Murphy's laws...

Don't get shocked seeing the title as I will not go into the analysis and proof of these laws!! This post shall deal with the applications of these basic laws in the day to day happenings and hope I give a reasonable justice to this post. The famous Murphy's law states that "If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong." Murphy laws seems to apply in every field without any exception. Politics, industry, stock markets, sports, relationships, career, family at one point or the other pass through Murphy's laws.

Reading about Murphy's law, I remembered about one more law - Second law of thermodynamics. The second law of thermodynamics states that the entropy (disorder) of the system always increases which means that the instability in a system increases over time. Now, this law was successfully applied in quantum mechanics (one of my fav's) to explain the time-space motion and singularity.

Now leaving the technicals behind, what surprises me is that not only these laws are true in their respective fields but also in the day to day life. The chilled life is decreasing day by day; the world seems to be less safe with every passing day. Conflicts, threats, wars are becoming a way of life. Just ponder over and see for yourself, the amount of violence shown in films, action games depicting suppressible violent content and the hero-mania associated with acts of violence.

It pains that even the nature too, is not left alone!! The amount of deforestation, pollution, global warming and irregular weather patterns all indicate that we are soon on a path of trail. How many times we casually forget about the presence of a dustbin, how many time we tend to switch off lights and fans wasting energy. Murphy's laws exist because of the inherent animal nature of the humans and not because they are to exist.

The issue of corporate governance especially after the recent Satyam episode, brings back to the fore, the issues of accountability and fairness. These two qualities are not easy to imbibe (but definitely possible) and practicing them in this present world of competition is rather a difficult task. But as we see that even the best companies can crash down if not adhered to fairness and accountability.

Even career and relations can go bad if issues are not properly addressed. And they can really go worst if luck isn't on your side. Always better to thank yourself for having good relations and never take things granted. High expectations in career and life can also lead to disastrous results leaving you in insufferable pain. So, always be content with what you have and be willing to give without expecting anything in return.

I definitely do not have a ready to apply solutions to all the world's problems rather, I only want to emphasize that we can always make the society better by making ourselves better and living in a symbiotic relationship with Mother Nature. Else, Murphy's law is ready to strike!!
