2012: end of world?

Off late there has been widespread interest in this number "2012" with conspiracy theorists back into limelight suggesting that the world would come to end on Dec 21 2012. Curiosity made me to dig some material about this event to decide whether I should be on a trip to Hawaii or not.

The main basis for the prediction is the Mayan calendar which accurately calculates the solar & lunar cycles. Unlike the western calendars where the numbers are in base-10 format, the Mayan calendar is represented in base-20 and base-18 format. The second digit is in base-18 format and the rest of the digits are in the base-20 format.

To measure dates over a long period, the Mayans used the "Long count calendar" that can measure upto 144,000 days (1.0.0.0.0) which is roughly 394.3 solar years. Every such 144,000 days is represented as 1 b'at'kun and the world would start its 13th b'at'kun (13.0.0.0.0) on Dec 21 2012 which means there is a new calendar round according to the Mayans which is similar to resetting the odometer of a vehicle when all the digits are 9.

According to the Mayans, the world begins a new cycle every 20 b'at'kun or nearly 7886 years. The starting date of the current world is Aug 11, 3114 BC as per the Mayans and therefore the 20 year world cycle will be in the year 4772 :)

So after the Y2k bug & 2000 doomsday predictions, this conspiracy theory will also rest in peace. I would have been on my dream destination (Hawaii) if the doomsday prediction was definite. Hmm... life continues...

Trail of love...

The ocean leaves its trail of love
on the sand with waves,
the sky leaves its trail of love
on the clouds with rainbow &,
the wind leave its trail of love
on the leaves with cool breeze.

A father leaves his trail of love
on the kid during the child's first steps,
a mother leaves her trail of love
on the child on every grain of rice &
a soul mate leaves her trail of love
on a man with her memories.

Cherish & love every moment
cos these moments are not repeated,
love your dear ones & leave a trail of love.

This is my second attempt at poetry and hope you people liked it.

Exams...hmm...

Today I had the IMC endterm exam and it goes like this:

The exam time was 2:15PM (2:00PM reporting time :O). It was a 20 page case study and since I slept for a few hours the night before & had an exam at 9:00AM, my natural instinct was always to hit the bed. So, while preparing for the exam, I dozed off (no alarm :O). Lucky that I got up at 2:30PM and went to the exam hall in 5 minutes. As someone later said, with my long hair pointed in every possible direction and wayward walk my appearance was like a ghost.

It was an open book exam and f***, I forgot to bring the case to the exam hall and the paper was of 40 marks with two questions entirely based on the case. I searched for the case in the textbook and sadly it wasn't present. We had to evaluate 5 marketing ad campaigns and thanks to a bit of good memory, I could remember all of them but not the names of the ad campaigns. So, one of the ad campaign name was "Labor of love" and this genius wrote it as "Baby from womb" (haha...wtf...) etc.

Now this is what the Prof might be thinking when he evaluates my paper.

" Arey yaar, yeh log kya bakwas likthe hain...maine inko kitna bhi options du, yeh sudarte nahi..

1. open book exam lagaya tha
2. exam mein sirf ek case study thi
3. case study ek din pehle diye tha
4. yeh case study last year kar waaya tha
5. n shit, iska solution loki (shared files) pe hai

fir bhi yeh log..hmm...hey bhagwan.."

Lets wait for 1 month and see how much of my memory and creativeness helped me!! :pray

Mirch Masala...

Some of the hot stories that are doing rounds in the Kampus and some which are quite old. No more gas, start reading and enjoy!!

1. There's this forex guy who is in Italy and wants to settle down in the US. So, he went with a NRI girl all the way from Italy to Paris. Then, they spent time at the Disneyland and finally did his wish come true? Wait for a few months.

2. Now this dude who goes out with the forex girls for every trip (Mysore, Bangalore, Nagarhole... :P) and when asked why he does so, he has a strange answer. He says he wants to feel how worse the firangis are and wants to have a positive opinion about the Indian girls.

3. Now this forex guy got caught by police and guess why -- because was travelling ticketless!! This genius was speaking to a girl and forgot to punch his travel ticket for the extra distance he traveled.

4. Strange that he comes to the classes early these days, & that's 'strange' because he came late to every class, quiz, midterm and end term. Warned by Saddy & TA's innumerable times, he never changed until 5th term. Now why is he coming early?? Frankly I don't know.

5. Now, another guy who doesn't even weigh 50kgs and considers himself to be most handsome guy in the college. Now, this skinny guy has been moving around with a junie for the past few months after successfully clearing all hurdles created by his peers and no strange he was a topper in the "Strategic Management" course.

6. SRDO - Single Room Double Occupancy. I feel it's waste of money to construct a guy's hostel because most girls have more than one person staying in their rooms. So it's better to construct more girls hostels because it's a double advantage. More girls and less money to spend on infrastructure.

7. His motive: to make this into a chetta college. His favorite shirt color: a bright pink shirt. His method: ping every person on his gtalk with his trademark ": _ _ _ "

8. She is a bitch, she sleeps with everyone, guys use her day and night, doesn't need much time to get charged up, and yet I love her!! -- My samsung star 3G mobile (It's working!!!)

No offence intended to anyone and this post was only for fun. Will be back with more 'stuff'.

K2 beach...

Well, we guys went to this beach which is awesome and is just around 25 kms from the Kampus (5kms before Kappad beach). On the way to Kappad beach, once you cross the single lane bridge just before Korapuzha, take the first left turn. The route is shown in the google map (search: IIMK to Korapuzha) is shown below. There is now road till the beach, so need to park the vehicles and walk on the rocks to goto the beach (nice fun indeed!!)

The best part about this beach is that it's similar to the Mahe beach. The sand on the beach isn't loose and an evening game of beach cricket is an lively way to refresh up!! So, whoever wants to enjoy the serenity of the Mahe beach or got bored of Kappad and Calicut beaches, this one can be tried out.

Also the beach is quite long to have a nice walk and at the south end of the beach, one can see the backwaters. This beach is unpolluted because of the absence of any visitors except for the few local population around the beach rocks.

Thanks to Dhaka for the entire trip plan for one more memorable trip in IIMK days. Some pics taken at the beach.

Therefore, visit this 'K2 beach' named after the bunch of K2 hostel guys who ventured to see something new!!

Have fun and keep the beach clean!!

Italian Idly and French Bonda :O ...

Some of the weird stuff I ever ate is the Mexican dosa, hmm.. It happened a few weeks back when I went to this famous shopping mall in Kozhikode. Dosa being one of my favorite items and it's been a long time since I had one, I was looking forward for a spicy dosa. After going through the menu, I hardly found one item that was known to me. Some items were like Mexican dosa, French dosa, Chinese noodles dosa .. :O

When did the traditional Indian dosa became westernized. It's fine that there should be new variants in the dishes, but aren't we losing the traditional flavor of the dosa. How does one feel when a new item is called "Indian Pizza" where pizza is topped with fried rice and served in sambar. (Shit!!)

Probably time would come when there would be so called Italian Idly (Idly with pizza), French bonda (French fries with flour), Chinese vada (vada with noodles served in sambar..ohh..yaak). I doubt whether the next generation can eat an authentic Indian dosa. Atleast hope that Indian flavors are not changed to a state where one can't find anything Indian in them. A dosa has a typical Indian flavor and I don't feel it in a Mexican dosa (dosa with noodles :O).

I still miss the traditional pesarattu (dosa made with green daal) with chopped onions, ginger pieces, green chilly and topped with ghee. (yummy...)

How they died...

This is my first attempt at writing a story and hope you would enjoy reading it!! For criticizing, use the comments section :P

PART I

Avoiding deep breaths to be unnoticed, with the dagger firmly in his right hand, he moved forward, towards his goal. Neither the darkness of the deep tunnel nor the freezing water slackened his progress. The dagger was painted with the red color of his previous victim's blood and some blood marks are present on his light blue shirt. Yes, that was the favourite light blue shirt given to him by his sweetheart Sanjana on his birthday, which was just a few weeks back.

At a far distance, Rahul could see a small but bright light source. He thought to himself, that the target cannot escape through the narrow hole. He knew he should surprise the target else he can be overpowered when he reaches the end of the tunnel. Slowly and carefully walking through the stinking water, he continued his movement towards the end of the tunnel.

It was Sept 6th, that he joined the post graduation first year at one of the most prestigious colleges. His friends called him chintu, he was known for his brilliance at academics. He was an introvert, who loved pizzas and playing football. Soon, he came to be known as one of the good guys on the campus.

He could hear some sound now, his eyes became more focussed, and his heart was filled with hatred that was set out to take revenge. He thought to himself, if he could kill Akshay at the entrance of the tunnel just a while ago, he could kill the next person also. These thoughts made him stronger and more determined.

PART II

Rahul slowly became obsessed with football. He practiced every day at the football ground nearby to his college. Except for the trees that surround the ground, it's an entirely barren land. He became friendly with Akshay, who also became a regular to the football ground. Soon, they started sharing their thoughts to each other, frequently used spoke about their childhood and strangely, they had the same tastes as well!!. After some time they became good friends. From then onwards, they regularly met at the football ground.

Rahul was now close to the end of the tunnel, he knows that he can find the person he is desperately trying to kill. His pupils enlarged, his concentration was strong enough to get over the pungent smell of the water around him. The stress filled 5kms run from the football field into this lonely tunnel and the knife cut on his leg did not decrease his energy. He knows he has to stay alive for some more time and fulfil the promise he made.

She was the most beautiful girl on the campus. She was an extrovert in nature and her presence made the atmosphere very joyful. She liked everything and she laughed at everything. But as with anyone else, she had some negative traits. She was selfish in nature!! Hmm.. who is not selfish in this world. She met Rahul for the first time, in the canteen when he spilled the hot curry dish on her dress. Not a nice start to their friendship, but somehow she liked him, because she felt there was something different about him.

Now, blood is oozing out more rapidly and his leg isn't supporting him. He says to himself, that a few more steps and it’s done. His speed decreases as he doesn't want to be surprised by his target. He remembers the advice Sanjana gave to him "be careful, because it's deceptive". He is like a cobra, moving slowly and sensing the environment carefully. He stops frequently to check that there is no escape route and moves ahead slowly.

PART III

Soon, they became good friends and they always used to be together on the campus. Rahul started sharing his school, college experiences etc but never told about Akshay to Sanjana. They spent a lot of time together except in the evenings when Rahul used to go to ground to play football. Sanjana had once asked Rahul to take him to the football and he suddenly became angry and gave a stern look at her. She did not want to disturb his privacy and hence never asked again, but the stern look of Rahul remained in her mind. Anyways she advised Rahul to be careful and cautioned him against any unknown problems. After a few days, it was Rahul's birthday and Sanjana presented him with a light blue shirt.

Still, she was restless about Rahul’s stern look and wanted to know why Rahul never took her to the football ground. So, on Sept 16th, when she finished her regular chit chat with Rahul, she pretended to be unwell and went back to the hostel. Once Rahul started towards the ground, she closely followed him behind the tall pine trees. Since, it was raining; no one came for practice that day. Rahul saw a dagger lying on the path and thought it might be useful for him to cut the large bushes which he encounters just before reaching the football field.

She entered the football field to give a surprise to Rahul. Though Rahul was surprised, he was angry at the same time for the surprise visit. Akshay told to Rahul about the advices he gave to him and told him how Sanjana doubts Rahul’s actions and speaks ill against the female gender. Unable to bear the comments made at her, Sanjana reacted emotionally and in a fit of rage, she slapped him. Akshay, because of his short temper took the dagger from Rahul's hand and runs towards Sanjana.

PART IV

Sanjana ran away from the ground with Akshay in pursuit. Rahul was after Akshay, shouting at him to stop and return. But, Akshay wasn’t in a mood to relent and Sanjana was shouting and crying and ran here and there without any thought of where she was approaching. She entered into one of the deep tunnels. By this time, Rahul caught up Akshay at the entrance of the tunnel and asked him to hand over the dagger. Akshay refused and a fight ensured between the two and accidently Akshay made a cut in Rahul's leg. In the fight that ensured, Rahul by mistake had cut through Akshay's chest and he was profusely bleeding.

Akshay is almost about to die and he tells to Rahul about how he shouldn't trust girls and told him that the present conditions are due to Sanjana's suspicions about Rahul. Rahul felt sorry for his friend's state and with vengeance promised to kill Sanjana. So he went inside the tunnel to kill Sanjana. Sanjana unaware of all these, felt Akshay is coming to kill her and ran inside the tunnel.

Now, Rahul is almost close to the end of the tunnel where Sanjana should be somewhere around. Suddenly he hears some rumbling sound above him. To maintain his balance, he takes support of the wall beside him and touches his shirt. He is shocked; he couldn't believe what he has seen. He says to himself "It can't be, this is impossible". He sees blood on his own hand, he tears open the shirt and he finds a large cut on his chest.

He falls down, he sees around and he doesn't see Sanjana anywhere around. All these days, he played football alone. He was the striker and he was the goalkeeper. There was no Akshay. His introvert feeling and his passion for football needed a friend and hence it was Akshay who filled that gap. There was no Sanjana also; he only needed someone to be with him when he is not playing football. His introvert nature never allowed him to speak to girls and hence Sanjana filled that gap. Since both of them, are so contrasting in nature, his mind isn't receptive to both at the same time. That's why, recently he faced conflicts.

At the ground, these thoughts were too conflicting for him to handle. He slapped himself and thought Akshay slapped Sanjana. At the entrance, he cut himself thinking Akshay did it. When he tried to kill Sanjana, in reality he was trying to kill himself. The chest injury that should be on Akshay was on him and then he realized the truth. These thoughts made him cry, he cried for help but was too far to receive one. Finally, he succumbed to his injuries. That’s how ‘they’ died.

Sweet love of mine...

It's dark, it's lonely,
it's a long way to go,
the moonlight is not
sufficient to lighten up,
I need the brightness of your
face to lighten the path.

The dark clouds
frighten me,
the winds scare me,
the beach makes me feel small,
I need the touch of
your hand to comfort me.

Sleep never comes to me,
cos there's no peace,
food doesn't need me,
cos there's no hunger,
love doesn't come to me,
cos u have taken my heart.

Why do I love her? ...

Why do I love her so much?? I was pondering over this for a few weeks before I accepted her. I thought about many things which made me to accept her.

Some of the reasons why i love her are

1. She is charming and hence I fell in instantaneous love with her
2. Touch of her smooth skin makes me feel crazy
3. She mesmerises me with her sweet voice and that's why I often ask her to sing
4. She has a beautiful and wide face
5. She dances with me in parties, she sings when i sing, she makes me smile when I'm moody
6. She never gets angry with me!!
7. She is sleek and very thin which makes me comfortable to take her
8. She looks cool and is advanced compared to her zombie peers
9. Her presence with me makes my friends get envy

I can't explain in words because you need to touch her to know about her!!

Currently I love her very much and plan to stay with her for the next 3-4 years and chances of a marriage with her for a life time looks very remote :( By the way, if you want to know who she is, then just scroll down

The best bike trip...

Eyes were still opening up from the long sleep, and after numerous attempts, I finally got out of the bed. My stomach gave its SOS signal for food and because of my acrimony towards mess food, Manish and I thought of having lunch at a nearby restaurant (hardly 2kms). After reaching the restaurant, we saw that Murphy's law had affected us !! Now, with some distinct feeling that I had seen a restaurant on the Wayanad road, we thought about going some 4-5kms further to check for any places to eat.

The weather was awesome and with the picturesque ghats infront, it was a lovely sight to watch. So got the strange idea to go further for some more distance and return to campus to have food at NC. After some 8-10 kms, we came across rubber plantations, which made an wonderful visual treat along with the ghats.

Out of curiosity, we asked some passersby about the distance to Tushargiri falls. As they replied that it was 15kms further we thought of visiting the place as we have reached more than half the distance. After some 8kms or so, the skies opened up and continued their relentless showers for the next part of the day. We continued our travel without stopping anywhere in between. We reached some nondescript town and after enquiry we found that there is still 18 more kms to travel!! (BC,MC etc) We were told about two roads that reach to the destination.

Because there was 3 kms difference between the two roads and heavy rains, we took the shorter route. By any means, it cannot be called as a road. It was a long chain of potholes with intermittent presence of tar. But, after some time these potholes vanished and we thought luck was once again shining upon us. But how can Murphy leave us so soon, we experienced almost vertically inclined roads for the rest of the journey. Not only that after every km or so, we find a junction and had to stop at every junction to enquire and proceed further.

After the last enquiry, since it was only 4 kms away we decided to take rest. Hmm...but the rain gods provided no respite to us and after travelling the remaining 4kms, we asked a stranger about tushagiri falls. With a stern look on his face, he said "4 more kms". Now giving all the MC, BC gaali, we finally reached the destination. Since we were damn hungry (our original reason to travel!!), we went to the only hotel present there and ordered for chapati and tomato curry (or is it some red water with 1-2 tomato pieces!!). For the fist time, I felt the mess food was better!!.

Already 6PM, we started our return journey and after some time we met a police vehicle at a junction. When asked how to reach Kunnamangalam, the policewala said "take the left road but we can go by the right one x-(". After our good experience, we decided to take the long route this time and we were back to square one, enquiring and going further. I believe people here underestimate the distance and I have learnt that in a hard way.

After an hour and so, it became dark and because of the absence of streetlights and heavy rains, the visibility was close to zero. Since we took the alternate route during the return journey, we are on an entirely new path altogether and frankly it isn't so easy to travel through frequent S and U turns. By the end of the journey, my thumb finger became numb and I could only hear the horn, not feel it.

But all through the journey, we only laughed. We laughed when the rains came, we shouted like kids when we used to clear the upward slopes, (forgot we went on a 100CC splendor of 2000 model!!!), and though we thought of stopping at some place, we always procrastinated to the next possible place. It's the most memorable bike experience that I ever had in my life. Those 90kms travel in heavy rains, through bad roads, zero visibility, body shivering in the latter part of the journey (wore only shorts n t-shirt!!) is an experience to cherish.

As is always said the unplanned tours are more memorable because of the uncertainty involved in them. More uncertainity (risk), more excitement (return)!!!

Kuch bhi...haan...

A post after 5 months...well i just couldn't find some time or it could be because, my Summers was too busy in visiting all the tourist places in Karnataka or it might be because of the so called pressure life in an IIM. Bakwas bandh karo, it's just that my mind wasn't creative enough to write/scribble any random topic.

Now that explains the title, I'm gonna attempt this style of random scribblings which I got inspired from this non-chalant writer Vikas (http://vc-has-an-idea.blogspot.com/).

Well over the last few months, there were many ups in my life and some downs too. Passed term III successfuly :) and finished half of my MBA. Then had an excellent Summers where I had an opportunity to visit all the tourist places in Karnataka. That experience was also great because it was for the first time I had been out of a city and where I could spend time visiting the rural side.

Then, the entry of junies in the college brought some life into the campus. Always can see the PGP 12 guys with the PGP 13 girls. As it always with me, my junies have better sex ratio and the quality is also better :P. One of the Greek gods (the one with the sugarcane..hehehe...) visited me on the first mess party (college party in K lingo).

Being the only exception whose weight has increased in the past few months, I started to put in extra efforts to decrease it. Anyways got a nice friend to kill time during those walks. Its almost been 6 days that I had dinner in the college. Continuous parties for some reason or the other :P. Got addicted to late night coffee's than ever before.

Hair uncut for the past 6 months, I'm not sure what's that gonna look life in the next few months or so, but the current reviews aren't so pleasing to me.

Love me or hate me but scribble some comments to help me write better!!

Rang Barse...

Holy Spirits!! I never enjoyed holi in my whole life like I did this time. The moment I entered the arena, Kunal n Manish tore my tee, then I was taken as if for a sacrifice and they splashed me into a large tub of colored water.

All this done in a fraction of time, that i forgot to take my mobile out of the pocket. Thank god, my mobile survived holi!!. The whole batch was looking like a bunch of mavericks, with wayward dances and throwing people into the tub.

Ricky danced awesomely to the song "tip tip barsa pani", aah God!! I wish everyday was holi. The tees became missiles and were traded against the one's standing on the ground floor. They reciprocated with the tees and Patki went a step ahead by trying to throw the big drums on the first floor. Haha...the laws of gravity aren't easy to be broken. It was all masti throughout the evening.

The pic on the left should explain the mood on that day. 'K' gave me some of the best moments in my life and Holi shall be the best among all. It was the best party I have ever attended.

This term has projects to be done in almost all the courses, with the submissions next week, its gonna be late nights :( Anyways the farewell party is next week and so loads of fun ahead :)

Anyways belated wishes for holi, shall post further updates soon.

The Last Outing...

The last week was hectic for me, but luckily not with the regular academic dose :), we had the mentorship outing, yes once again!! but sadly this is gonna be the last one :( With KV and Kajal graduating out by this month end, we decided to have one last outing.

This time, there were no absentees with Arijit finally taking out some time of his schedule. After brainstorming and vote out, we finally decided to go to Malabar Palace.

The 'hot' seat i.e., between Kajal and Indirah was the talk on the town. All the (un)lucky individuals received so many jatkas that they would never forget in their life. First, was Bhargav and ofcourse the topic was Mahe trip (http://vedsworld.blogspot.com/2009/02/mahe-trip.html). He was blasted with all the possible questions with me providing all the necessary inputs :P.

Next, Khannaji decided to take his chances and the hunter became the hunted. But the best part was Kajal singing a song after so many requests from each one of us. And one person who enjoyed more than anyone else was KV, Gosh!! he was blushing non-stop.

When his chance came, KV escaped with his global gas. By this time Kajal was speaking about the emotional blackmailing that we did to convince her to sing. Even the two brahmastras :P failed to convince KV to sing.  But, anyways Kajal has a soothing voice and a lot of guts too!!

Then, we spent sometime at the beach and it was a beautiful night with Pournami being the next night.

After some walks and ice-cream party, we reached the campus late night. They (KV & Kajal) were the best mentors on the campus and I was lucky to be part of their mentorship gang. They did more than mentoring, they helped whenever I was in need of something.

Once again thanks for the help and guidance over the last year. Wish them all a successful life. Shall post with further updates asap.

Love...

Back to back posts is strange for a person who writes 1-2 posts a month, but the occasion was something that i couldn't stop writing. We all celebrate Feb 14th as Saint Valentine's day. 'Love' -- now thinking about this I remember about Radha and Krishna; the eternal lovers.

Radha was one among the gopikas with whom Krishna spent his childhood in Vrindavan. Then at the age of 10, Krishna went to Mathura, killed Kamsa and liberated the world from evil. So, the time spent with Radha was mostly till the age of 10. But still Radha always loved Krishna, and worshipped him. That shows love doesn't decrease with distance rather it makes a person stronger and more dedicated.

One strange thing is that we only find krishna with Radha rather than with any of his 16000 gopikas. Also whenever love is explained it's more apt to Radha and Krishna than to anyone else. It's just because their love was highly emotionally attached to get disturbed by distance, wealth or any material objects.

Love is more emotional in nature and two persons enjoy in a relationship when they understand & respect each other and ofcourse sometimes make fun of the other person. So, one need not be forgiving all the time, you even got to be stubborn sometimes :P. But the underlying notion is that it transcends these material mediums and you enjoy every moment of the relationship.

Love is at its best when you become emotionally attached to a person. So when you enter into a relationship, it's not how much you get from it, rather how more happier you would be because of that relationship.

God, the unexplained energy...

This is a naive attempt of mine to relate the developments in astrophysics and spiritualism, that i believe shall converge to a common goal i.e., God. I strongly believe that one day God shall be explained scientifically and it requires both scientific and spiritual theories to explain this mystery. I do believe in God but as some form of omnipresent energy that still is unexplained.

Every religious book preaches and adheres to the 'statement' that God created man but the converse looks more appealing to me. Man created God because he was unable to explain all the phenomena by himself. So he conveniently invented the concept of God and attributed all the unexplained and unexplainable facts/theories/beliefs to him. So when our knowledge quotient increases then mystery behind God shall be revealed.

Let me put my point in this way, we all know that the universe is ever expanding, and the reason attributed is that the repulsion between the galaxies start increasing. The force of repulsion is explained by the Newton's gravtitational force equation. But what is it on which the universe is expanding? What's outside the universe?

The universe definitely needs a surface so that it can expand. But what is this energy that  causes expansion and the surface on which this expansion takes place? Now this unexplained energy is called dark energy in Quantum Mechanics. Dark energy is attributed to the increasing expansion rate of the universe and is a hypothetical concept.

Do we find actually find God only in temples, churches etc, ..well, when we enter any place of worship we enter into a positive vibrations zone. People think good, pray for good actions when they are in a temple because of which a strong positive energy zone is created. Now anyone who enters into the place of worship is influenced by this energy and that increments the already present positive energy over there. So that's like a positive spiral, where with time more and additions happen because of positive feedback.

The exactly opposite happens at a cemetry, when someone dies, there exists a lot of negative energies because there is lot of depression, sadness, ill-will and so on. And that's place where regularly such negative emotions generate (because someone or the other dies). So, there are some positive energy zones that get created and some negative zones which get created. This happens not only with places but also with humans also. When we generate a positive energy by thinking good, the same energy gets diffused to other present around us and the negative energy gets diffused happens when we think bad.

Therefore the actions we religiously perform is to generate and use this unexplained energy, which is the cause of our living in this universe. Now if this energy is God then "what is the source of life - Is it the same above mentioned energy that brings life to a dumb body to become a living being?" I do not know......

Mahe Trip...

First and foremost, I can undoubtedly say that our mentorship group was the best in IIMK. Fortunate that I was one among the mentees under KV and Kajal. Two highly respected people and talented in their own ways, they had a big role in my smooth transition towards a B-school life. My other co-mentees were Naren, Jimmy, Bhatia, Khanna saab, Ritchie, Puneet, Bhargav & Indirah. We went for 4-5 outings and every outing was only full of fun, fun n fun!! Being the last outing before graduating, KV and Kajal proposed for a half-day outing at Mahe, approximately 90Kms from the campus. Finally 6 of us (KV, Kajal, Bhargav, Indirah, Khanna n myself) started for the journey on our bikes to Mahe

For the starters, Mahe is a former french colony under the Union territory of Puducherry. Located at a distance of 22Kms from Kannur district, it's famous for the golden sand beaches. The natural growth of palm tress around the fringes, gives a spectacular view and also an added element of beauty during the ride. Lucky to study in the God's own country!! Thanks to IIM Kozhikode.

We initially halted at Mahe, near the St. Theresa Cathedral and after a short break we directly proceeded towards the beach. Approx., the last 3Kms is through a jungle of palm trees and offers a spectacular view of the beach on one side and the palm trees on the other side of the road. Probably one of the very few beaches where vehicles could be driven on the beach.

Immediately we switched into shorts and made a dash towards the beach. It was awesome for the rest of the 2hrs in the sea. Though only two of us knew swimming, we took the risk of venturing farther and it was awesome fun splashing around and Khanna saab made us play ring-a-ring-a-roses...lol..lol. The pic on the left explains the beauty of this beach, and the serene climate is apt for an outing.

It was an exciting day with everyone in great spirits and enjoying as if that's the last day to live. Almost close to sunset and we were a bunch of mavericks who forgot about the world around them and only immersed in having fun to the most possible extent. Though the sea water causes burning sensation, it did not deter us from trying to swim. Khanna frequently said "Agar koi doobne vaala hain tho, sabse pehle Ved hi hoga". My attempts to learn swimming were some of the most funniest moments  of the tour. Credit for the above pics goes to Kajal.

After some funny attempts of photography, we started to Kozhikode at 7:30PM. Asli maza ab aaya..Khanna's bike doesn't have shock absorbers and they are very important during a bike journey. Not surprisingly my back n bottom were in serious pain after this journey. By the time I reached campus, the pain was too difficult to subsidize and it was so funny when Khanna and I started walking after getting down from the bike.

Finally, once again thanks to KV and Kajal and the rest of the mentees for the wonderful time and making my stay in 'K' a memorable one.

With the last two weeks immersed with numerous quizzes, case studies and assignments and project work, this trip gave me the perfect break which I absolutely needed. Hmm... next week the mids are gonna start and I need to start my preparation. (L->R: Kajal, Me, KV, Indirah, Khanna)

Murphy's laws...

Don't get shocked seeing the title as I will not go into the analysis and proof of these laws!! This post shall deal with the applications of these basic laws in the day to day happenings and hope I give a reasonable justice to this post. The famous Murphy's law states that "If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong." Murphy laws seems to apply in every field without any exception. Politics, industry, stock markets, sports, relationships, career, family at one point or the other pass through Murphy's laws.

Reading about Murphy's law, I remembered about one more law - Second law of thermodynamics. The second law of thermodynamics states that the entropy (disorder) of the system always increases which means that the instability in a system increases over time. Now, this law was successfully applied in quantum mechanics (one of my fav's) to explain the time-space motion and singularity.

Now leaving the technicals behind, what surprises me is that not only these laws are true in their respective fields but also in the day to day life. The chilled life is decreasing day by day; the world seems to be less safe with every passing day. Conflicts, threats, wars are becoming a way of life. Just ponder over and see for yourself, the amount of violence shown in films, action games depicting suppressible violent content and the hero-mania associated with acts of violence.

It pains that even the nature too, is not left alone!! The amount of deforestation, pollution, global warming and irregular weather patterns all indicate that we are soon on a path of trail. How many times we casually forget about the presence of a dustbin, how many time we tend to switch off lights and fans wasting energy. Murphy's laws exist because of the inherent animal nature of the humans and not because they are to exist.

The issue of corporate governance especially after the recent Satyam episode, brings back to the fore, the issues of accountability and fairness. These two qualities are not easy to imbibe (but definitely possible) and practicing them in this present world of competition is rather a difficult task. But as we see that even the best companies can crash down if not adhered to fairness and accountability.

Even career and relations can go bad if issues are not properly addressed. And they can really go worst if luck isn't on your side. Always better to thank yourself for having good relations and never take things granted. High expectations in career and life can also lead to disastrous results leaving you in insufferable pain. So, always be content with what you have and be willing to give without expecting anything in return.

I definitely do not have a ready to apply solutions to all the world's problems rather, I only want to emphasize that we can always make the society better by making ourselves better and living in a symbiotic relationship with Mother Nature. Else, Murphy's law is ready to strike!!
