If you are a believer that cinema is more than just entertainment, then Stanley Kubrick movies must be at the top of the list. He often adapted novels and made path-breaking movies that are provocative and puts you in a moral dilemma. His movies are addictive and with every revisit, you enjoy the movie more. He made movies in every possible genre: horror, war, dark comedy, thriller, drama, sex, violence etc.
The movies that should be watched (not in any particular order) are "Clockwork Orange", "Barry Lyndon", "The Shining", "Full Metal Jacket", "Paths to Glory", "Lolita", "Dr. Strangelove". He directed "2001: A Space Odyssey", which is much ahead of times and an inspiration to Steven Spielberg.

Full Metal Jacket first half is a brilliant war comedy. The training song lyrics are a cult and are awesomely pictured with raw (pure) intentions. More than the climax, the movie must be watched for the first half.

Kubrick's movie is all about passion, unhindered raw visual presentation coupled with dark satire. Kubrick is more relevant these days because of the excessive curb on internet freedom across the world, loss of privacy because of government control, etc
If Kubrick was alive today and is in India, I wish he made a dark satire movie about how the govt would fall because of 1 derogatory FB post by a 10 year old and hence the government must excessively monitor peoples' lives.
